This artwork is the last in an edition of 3 plus 2 APs. Translated from Spanish, 'Broken Column, Whole Desire'. My interpretation extends beyond that of Frida's portrait. In this work I feel her pain. When I look into her eyes I feel sorrow and want to cry. There's strength and defiance in her posture as she suffers with stoicism. Her nudity is a part of her story. She's proud of her sexuality; her nudity is a part of her defiance. The misty country landscape is a beautiful and moody juxtaposition. It's softness befitting her sadness, but there's also reprieve or hope that's not a part of her original artwork. There's emotional turmoil and confrontation in every element here. To me she is beautiful. She is my Mona Lisa.
